When I found myself estranged from my granddaughter, I needed to say things and had to find a way to express my feelings, and so I started writing poems.
I had never written poems before in my life, but somehow it just happened.
It was an outlet, a safe place to get my emotions on paper, it was my way of ‘communicating’ with my precious granddaughter.
We all know how bereft we feel, the feeling of loss is immense.
The arms that had once held this precious little person were empty and there was a huge void in my heart.
I just wanted her to know how much she was loved and missed.
I had a vision, a time when I could put all of these words into a book, and today that vision has been fulfilled.
When I was in the process of putting this together I asked other grandparents if they would like to submit their own poem, and several did and they are included in the book.
Reading the poems has been very emotional, grandparents so eloquently putting their very personal feelings into their own words.
