Over the last 15 years I have had the privilege to meet some wonderful people, people who have given their time freely to help in raising awareness of the living bereavement that is unjustified estrangement.
Overwhelmingly the majority of those people are genuinely concerned and want to do all they can to help and support, the 2 million children denied contact with grandparents.
Whenever a ‘new’ person shows an interest in BGSG and asks what they can do to help, sometimes appear to have hidden agendas.
Anyone who says to me, I have no ego, immediately makes me think then why mention it?
Sadly the whole issue of unjustified estrangement is a platform for some to use for their own ego, the reason why they became involved in the first place gets taken over by their own self importance.
I will always say to interested parties that what ever they do they must not let grandparents down, giving promises that are not fulfilled.
All grandparents are vulnerable and are of course looking for answers and they will willingly give over their contact details to those who say they want to be involved.
These grandparents have already been hurt beyond belief by their own family members, and will give their heart and soul to someone they think might make a difference.
To give grandparents false hope is absolutely unforgivable.
