It was an absolute delight to host a BGSG zoom meeting with Erin Pizzey, today.
Erin is a wonderful lady full of empathy and wisdom.
She talked about the addiction people can have with someone who has a narcissistic personality.
As an observer I watched as everyone started to nod their heads, many knew exactly what she was getting at.
Many have been in touch since the meeting and have said how wonderful it was to hear Erin talk about this, and how it helped them. It was a light bulb moment for some.
Of course we also discussed Domestic Abuse, as Erin opened the first Women’s Refuge 50 years ago, next year. It became apparent to Erin at that time that both men and women can be violent, be abusers, equally.
She and I feel strongly that gender must be taken out of the Domestic Abuse conversation, and that Parental/Grandparent Alienation is a child protection issue and emotional abuse against children.
We must keep being as vocal as possible, and not to be silent, if we are we are complicit. We can no longer just sit back, children and grandchildren are suffering today and everyday from this emotional abuse.
