Although we are based in Bristol we give help and support across the UK and beyond.
It is one of the amazing things about modern technology, it doesn’t matter wherever an estranged grandparent is, just around the corner or on the other side of the world, we are here to support you.
During the pandemic we have all become familiar with Zoom, Teams etc it has allowed even more grandparents to be able to talk to others who understand what they are going through, it is amazing to see people from all over the world coming together in this way.
I know for many this way of communication has been a life saver.
There is often debate about what we are called, and our trustees have discussed name changing over the years. some people say we need to be called something ‘National’ but it is just a name. What matters is the support that can be given not what you are called or where we are based
Bristol Grandparents Support Group has become it’s own brand name now, and to change our name would be confusing and in our view unnecessary, we do have many groups now across the UK if people are looking for face to face meetings.
We are now on many databases and helpline contacts and people get referred to us from one end of the country to the other.
What matters for us is the quality of support that we can all give to grandparents in distress, as quickly as possible and to be easily accessible.
It is worth mentioning again that we are happy to give one to one support using zoom or facebook video calls.
We haven’t started face to face support group meetings yet to err on the side of caution but we intend to start again in April, and we will also continue with our zoom support group meetings.
You can find out dates for our regular face to face meetings by looking on the Homepage of our website.
