For 17 years now, our Christmas Tree of Hope has stood in the garden here at the Bristol Grandparents Support Group, shining brightly through the winter and carrying hundreds of messages from grandparents to their grandchildren.
Each message is written on a weatherproof label using weatherproof pens, so they can stay on the tree throughout the December — a lasting symbol of love, hope, and connection.
Even when families are apart, love never disappears.
This tree reminds us of that every single year.
🌟 How You Can Take Part
If you’re a grandparent who’s separated from your grandchildren, you can still be part of this special tradition — wherever you live.
Just email your message to www.bgsg.co.uk, and we’ll carefully write it onto a weatherproof label and hang it on the Christmas Tree of Hope in our garden for you.
You might like to share a few words of love, a happy Christmas memory, or a wish for the future. Whatever you write, your message will join many others from grandparents who understand what you’re going through.
As the lights sparkle and the labels sway in the breeze, the tree becomes a living symbol of love that stretches across distance and time.
🕊 About Our Tree
We first placed the Christmas Tree of Hope in our garden back in 2008, and it has become one of our most treasured traditions. Every year, grandparents from Bristol and far beyond send in their messages, and we hang each one with love and care.
Through rain, frost, and twinkling lights, the tree stands strong — a reminder that even when we can’t be together, the love between grandparents and grandchildren endures.
