I am so sorry to have to tell you that Marion Turner who ran Granpart in Milton Keynes and Northants, passed away this week, due to Covid. She set up her group in 2015.
Marion worked tirelessly for the rights of grandchildren, taking the cause to the very heart of government.
I was always inspired by her commitment and conviction for trying to get changes, and raising awareness.
She was literally a life saver to so many grandparents, in the darkest of days she would be there for them, holding out that hand of friendship and kindness.
Marion embraced the trials and tribulations of zoom, as we all have over this difficult year, she was determined to continue giving support to grandparents in anyway she could.
During this journey of estrangement and alienation I have had the privilege of getting to know and working with many wonderful people, people who have faced their own heartbreak, people who have put the well-being and welfare of children at the forefront of everything they do.
Sometimes, getting people to be proactive is difficult, but that can never be said about Marion she was the most proactive person I knew.
Here are some personal tributes to Marion:
” I am very sorry to hear of the loss of a very much loved lady who did so much for so many in so many ways.and send my sincere condolences to all the family at this awful time.”
” I am devastated to hear this sad news, Marion was my lifeline.”
“Marion worked tirelessly to keep alienation in public view. She was dogged and energetic. She had a lot of life left in her. This virus has claimed too many. May she rest peacefully. “
“I met Marion at one of the Westminster meetings, she worked so hard for our cause.”
“Marion will be sorely missed by her group members and many others.”
“Such sad news, my condolences to her family.”
“Friendship transcends death. Memories made will never be forgotten and created a lasting impression on those they left behind. Everyone became a better person for having such a wonderful friend.”
Rest in Peace, Marion and thank you.
