What is your alphabet of gratefulness?

I can’t take any credit for this idea, I received it from “A network of grateful living,” but it is something that I am going to try and put into practice myself.

It is an alphabet of gratefulness. Everyone will be unique to you, a tool to help you when you need to hang on in those difficult times.

As the name suggest you work through the alphabet, thinking  of a word that will then develop into  much wider thoughts of gratefulness.

So, obviously starting with the letter A.

Don’t think about it too deeply, it can be just a word that makes you feel good, happy, content or at peace.

A for Air. Breathing in wonderful fresh air on a cold and frosty morning, or a sea breeze.

B for Blessed. Feeling blessed to have family who love me, blessed to have good health, blessed with freedom of speech, blessed for living in a lovely home. Actually the list is endless.

C for care. Grateful for the care people show me, care that I witness daily.

D for dreams. Nothing is impossible in a dream.

E for expectation. That wonderful feeling of what is to come, of things still to be discovered.

F for Friends. I am so grateful for all of my friends some I have known a life time, friends I have met through BGSG.

G for gorgeous. The setting sun, a rising moon, raindrops on a leaf.

H for happy. Listening to the sounds of children laughing, happy faces.

I for Imagination. My imagination can take me anywhere.

J for Joy. Sharing the joy when grandparents are reunited with their grandchildren.

K for Kite. Kites soaring high above in a clear blue sky, different shapes and sizes.

L for Lavender. The soothing smell of a tiny little blue flower, the wonder of a lavender field with the heady perfume wafting on the breeze.

M for Mum. So grateful for knowing my Mum, a privilege to have been her daughter.

N for Nasturtiums. The vibrant colours of these lovely flowers just when the days are getting shorter with the large green leaves and a peppery perfume.

O for Opportunity. Seizing every opportunity that comes.

P for Peace. Grateful for those magic moments when I can just close my eyes and hear the silence.

Q for Question. Asking why?

R for Reading. Losing myself in a good book.

S for stars. Looking up at the night sky and the wonder of it.

T for Trust. To trust someone is priceless.

U for Umbrella. Enjoying the sound of the rain. The delight when the wind blows your umbrella inside out!

V for View. So many to choose from, the view from an apartment at Mousehole, standing on the tops of a fell in The Lakes, looking out over the sea.

W for Water. To be able to just turn on a tap for fresh running water, the sound of a babbling brook, the waves.

X for X-ray. Grateful for modern technology.

Y for you. You are special, unique just you.

Z for ( could be a bit tricky!) zest for life. Always grateful for getting the most out of life. Life is a gift.

Have a go and see where your alphabet takes you.
