Children believe.

You can not escape Christmas cheer, it is absolutely everywhere.

Jolly, cheery people coming into our living rooms from our radios and TV.

There are many, many people who won’t be feeling jolly or cheerful, their own personal circumstances will be wanting Christmas to be over as soon as possible.

On Christmas Eve one of the groups I am in touch with are inviting people to light a candle and take a photo which will be added to a collage, many will have photos of children and grandchildren that won’t be with a loved member of their family.

Parents who won’t be able to share in the excited giggles of a small person discovering Santa has been whilst they have been asleep, the peeping around the door with wide eyes of expectation, pleading that it is time to get up, even though it is only 5:30am!

Grandparents who won’t be getting their Christmas wish again this year, just a wish to be able to share in their grandchildren’s excitement, the sheer magic of the innocence of children.

Children who believe.

Perhaps we all need to have the same belief of the children.

A belief that magic does happen, that wishes and dreams do come true.

I know that you will all have your own Christmas wish, for me all I want for Christmas is that my son will soon get a hug from his daughter, a daughter who was only 7 when he last held her, in 2016 she will be a young woman of 16.

For everyone who is finding life really painful at the moment, hang on to the belief, be thankful for all that is good in your life, be grateful for your health, home and security. This is just a moment in time.

You are not alone, your children and grandchildren have not forgotten you they hold you in their hearts forever. In that special magic place.

Hope allows us to deal with today and the pain we might be feeling, in the belief that tomorrow will be better.
